This month’s live meet-up will be at 7pm UK time on Wednesday 15 February.
We’re trying something different this time.
Every two months will be a “Deep Dive” which aims to address one big challenge of advanced Chinese language learners.
This month’s Deep Dive will be:
Chinese Media Masterclass: Where to find the best Chinese language news content on the web
The Masterclass will a one-hour live session to help advanced Mandarin learners find the best native Chinese language news content on the internet to support their language learning goals.
It's free for members of the Slow Chinese community to join. The recording will be circulated afterwards.
I will be also selling the Masterclass as a standalone product for $50.

1. Who is it for?
The Chinese Media Masterclass is for you if you:
✅ Have been learning Chinese for at least 5 years and define yourself as 'advanced'
✅ Are equivalent to HSK5-6, or graduated in Chinese language from university
✅ Know enough characters to read a short news article without too much trouble
✅ Need to read Chinese news as part of your job
✅ Want to find more Chinese language news resources but don't know where to start

This Masterclass will help you:
✅ Know where to find high quality news content you want to read and learn
✅ Understand the main differences between Chinese language news sites
✅ Save time and energy searching for content so you can focus on learning
3. What will you learn?
You'll learn:
✅ Which sites are best suited to you and your learning needs
✅ The differences between Mainland and non-Mainland resources, and the challenges of censorship
✅ A range of recommended media resources which you can integrate into your Chinese language content diet
4. What's in it?
The one-hour session will be a 45 minute presentation, followed by 15 minutes Q&A. The presentation includes:
Objectives: What we aim to achieve through the session
Principles: Key questions you need to understand before you chose your news sources
Types of media
Mainland resources
Non-mainland resources
Recommended resources: Our favourites
Mainland news sites
WeChat public accounts
Non-mainland news sites
Podcasts
You will also get a print out and check-list of our recommended news sites, a copy of the presentation, access to the recording, and access to our new Recommended Resources page in the Slow Chinese Notion site.
5. How much does it cost?
Members of the Slow Chinese community can join live and access the recording for free!
The price for non-members to join live is $50. The recording can be accessed by non-members at a 50% discount of $25 for a limited period.
6. What happens next?
Click on the Join Live link in this email, which sends you to our Gumroad product page.
Hit I Want This, which sends you to Checkout.
Type “Member” in the Discount Code box and hit Apply.
The price will go to $0.
You just need to provide your email address and hit Get.
You’ll receive an email receipt. And then you’ll get another email from me on Tuesday with the log in details for Wednesday.
