Hi all!
Greetings from Beijing!
Some of you may remember the 30-day challenge we did in February this year.
Run by our editor, Zoe Qian, it was a great way to practice writing (and thinking) in Chinese every day, form a daily habit, maintain and improve your Mandarin, and connect with our community.
The best bit for me was no matter how busy or distracted one might be, it just required 10 minutes each day to complete. A small amount of investment which really makes a difference!
Because that went so well, we’ve decided to run another challenge this summer, starting tomorrow, on 1 August.
This challenge is only for paid members of RTM (like you!). It’s part of what you get as a member of the RTM community.
How it works
The format will be the same as last time.
Zoe will post one question per day in Chinese, and you can take a little bit of time each day to read the question, respond to it in Chinese, and interact with other members of the RTM community.
You can learn more here about how the challenge will work.
How to join
The only difference this time around is we are not using Slack as the channel. Instead we are going to use Substack Chat.
Chat is easy to use. All you need to do is either drop into the Chat page on the RTM website, or download the Substack app and interact in the Chat there.
My personal preference is to use the app. It’s free, easy to use, and improves the overall Substack experience.
When you download it, make sure you toggle-on email and app notifications.
What next
Once you’ve downloaded the app, or bookmarked the Chat page on the website, you don’t need to do anything else.
Just look out for a notification from Zoe tomorrow, and commit to investing 10 minutes of your time to participate each day through August.
Zoe will start the first “Day 1” Chat tomorrow, on Thursday 1 August.
You will also get an email notification inviting you to join. After that it will be held in the Chat.
It really is a great way to keep your Mandarin skills going over the summer, and connect with other members of this community.
We really hope you can join and get stuck in!
Cheers,
Andrew
