Hi all!
A few quick updates ahead of Saturday’s newsletter and podcast.
First, there are now 500 members in this community!
Thank you to those of you who have joined recently. And thanks to everyone else who has supported our work over the last three years.
Watch this 20-minute virtual tour to learn more about what’s included in the membership.
Next, some exciting member updates:
A new integration
The next Deep Dive
In-person meet-ups in June
1. New integration: We now have Anki flashcards!
From this week onwards you’ll be able to download an Anki deck for Saturday and Sunday newsletters.
Each flash card includes the Chinese characters, pinyin, and English translation.
You’ll find the link to the deck in the Member Resources section at the end of each newsletter.
All you need to do is click the link. The Anki file will download onto your desktop or phone, which you can then open directly in your Anki app.
Try out last week’s Anki decks here:
Advanced (Saturday)
Intermediate (Sunday)
2. Deep Dive: Next Wednesday!
Our next Deep Dive is at 7pm UK time on Wednesday 24th April.
It’s called The Sentence Untangler.
Zoe and I will share our advice on how to breakdown, get through, and untangle long sentences in Chinese.
You can register to attend here.
We will be sending out the recording afterwards if you can’t attend the live session.
And you can catch up with the Deep Dive archive here.
3. Upcoming in-person events
We’re aiming to host in-person meet-ups every quarter.
There are already four events in the calendar for June:
London on Wednesday June 12 (this is a “China Nerdfest” which we co-host with Trivium China)
Geneva on Thursday 13 June (placeholder, date TBC)
Sydney on Thursday June 20 (placeholder, date TBC)
You can RSVP with one click through the links above.
We’ll probably be doing meet-ups in Beijing and New York too - let me know in the comments below if you’re interested in attending!
We hope to see some of you on- and off-line soon!
Cheers,
Andrew

Ps - We are always looking to improve the membership experience. (The Anki flashcards are thanks to a request from a member of this community). If you have other ideas about how we can help you, and improve the product, please tell us!
Hi Andrew! I'm a new member and my learning is centered around anki (actually Migaku but importing anki cards is really easy) so I'm excited to see the integration, I had been making them myself.
Could you add the sentences and the sentence audio to the cards? I find it helpful to see the word in context and hear the related native audio
Hi Andrew, London "Nerdfest" link doesn't seem to be working - leads to Washington instead.
