How to finally get your speaking confidence and fluency back in 2026!
Join the next RTM Speaking Sprint!
Hello!
Happy New Year!
Feel like you’re not quite in “New Year mode” yet…?
Me too. But that’s ok.
But today is January 2nd, when things really start to happen!
It’s when you actually start thinking clearly about what’s going to be different this year.
Maybe you’ve already started planning your Chinese learning goals for 2026?
Telling yourself things like:
“I’m finally going to focus on my speaking this year!”
“This is the year when I actually wave goodbye to my rusty spoken Chinese.”
“No more dabbling in speaking. This year, I’m doing this properly.”
Sound familiar?
Problem is….
How many times have you told yourself these things before?
And how many times in the past have you started to focus on your speaking, but got stuck, lost interest, and eventually given up?
And you still find yourself in those awkward situations when you try to speak Chinese, but just can’t quite get the right words out when you need them.
And you’re back to square one.
That’s because getting (and staying) on top of your Chinese speaking skills is really hard. Especially if you don’t live in a Chinese speaking environment.
But what if, this year, I could offer you a different path?
A path which helps you solve the biggest barriers to you getting your Mandarin speaking confidence and fluency back.
And a system which gives you the structure, accountability, and support you need to keep going, even when you don’t feel like showing up…
Well, I can!
Because registration for the next cohort of my RTM Speaking Sprints is now open!
This is a 12-week immersive program of weekly conversations in Mandarin with native speakers about current affairs in China.
Every week you’ll get the content, support, structure, and accountability you need to help you practice, apply, and retain what you learn.
So you can finally build a learning habit that sticks, get confident and boost your spoken Chinese.

“Listening, focused learning, current vocabulary, and speaking have helped me break through. I think Real Time Mandarin has really found the next frontier in learning Chinese.”
How it works
Many Chinese conversation programs or classes focus on basic expressions, chatting about what you did yesterday, or going through scripted textbook conversations from the 1990’s.
RTM Speaking Sprints are different.
And to be clear: this is not a class.
It’s real conversations in Mandarin, with native speakers, about real news.
From the very first session, you’ll be discussing real Chinese news as it’s happening, with native speakers who understand both the language and the context.
It’s challenging but supportive.
You’ll be in a private community of language learners like you. So you’ll be inspired, motivated, and be kept accountable.
And… Calls aren’t recorded so you can practice in privacy.
Who this is for
This program is for you if your level is at least “intermediate” (HSK4+).
Or you describe yourself as “intermediate/advanced”, “advanced but rusty”, “fluent with gaps”, or any other combination like this!
If this sounds like you, then the RTM Speaking Sprint will help you finally wave goodbye to your rusty Mandarin, and those awkward can’t-get-the-words-out moments!
When the live sessions happen
Live meet-ups hosted by native speakers happen every Saturday starting on January 10.
Two sessions are held every Saturday to catch all timezones, so you can commit to the same time each week:
Session A: 10am UK time — for European, Asian, and Australasian timezones
Session B: 5pm UK time — for American timezones
Ready to hop aboard?
“The weekly calls and their structure provide just enough accountability for me to engage with the newsletter in a way that fits into my lifestyle as a working mom.”
See you soon!
Cheers,
Andrew
