Invitation to RTM Pro "Open House"
Join RTM Pro group call on Saturday at 6pm UK time for free!
Hi all,
I hope you’re doing well and enjoying the latest RTM content!
I wanted to take a moment to share an update with you.
As you may remember, we launched RTM Pro back in April—our premium membership tier designed to help you sharpen your spoken Mandarin through weekly, live group calls.
These sessions, held entirely in Mandarin and moderated by native speakers, are a great way to build confidence and improve your fluency, using the newsletter content as a springboard for discussion.
It’s been amazing to see the progress of Pro members so far, and we’re already in week 21!
We’ve just released the group call times for October, and I’m excited to share that our first call this month will be an “Open House” session—an invitation for you to join us and test it out for free.
This will be an opportunity for you to experience RTM Pro firsthand and see how it can help you tackle your rusty Mandarin!
Join us for our next meeting on Saturday, 5th October, at 6 PM UK time (US: 10am PST, 12pm CST, 1pm EST; 7pm CET in Europe).
We have limited availability for just five guests, so spots will fill up quickly—first-come, first-served!
This one-time session is completely free, but we encourage you to consider upgrading to RTM Pro if you find it beneficial!
You'll receive detailed instructions on how to prepare for the session in your confirmation email after registering.
How RTM Pro works
Held on Zoom every Saturday, RTM Pro’s one-hour live sessions are conducted entirely in Chinese and hosted by native speakers. Each session is structured around three pre-sent questions about the latest newsletter content.
If there are more than five participants, breakout rooms are used to ensure everyone gets time to speak. Each breakout room is chaired by a native speaker, and participants are randomly rotated for each question to ensure a good mix of voices.
Here’s how it works:
Pre-Session: Two days before the call, you’ll receive pre-reading materials, including links to the latest newsletters (intermediate and advanced content) and three discussion questions in Chinese, allowing you to prepare your thoughts.
Group Call: Each session begins with brief introductions and casual chat (5 mins), followed by 50 minutes of discussion. Each of the three questions is explored for 12-15 minutes, offering everyone the chance to share views, ask questions, and engage with native speakers and fellow learners. We end with free chat and reminders for the next session.
Post-Session: Following the session, you’ll receive a summary with additional vocabulary, key phrases, with pinyin and translations, and any helpful resources mentioned during the discussion.
Want to give it a try?
“I look forward each week to reading newsletter, listening to podcasts, and speaking with fellow RTM Pro friends.
RTM Pro provides a full immersive experience. Highly recommended.”

RTM Pro is designed for seasoned Mandarin learners who want to maintain and enhance their spoken language skills while deepening their understanding of current affairs in China.
This program is ideal for you if you identify with one or more of the following:
✅ You’ve studied Chinese for at least five years.
✅ Your work involves using Chinese, whether professionally or in research.
✅ You possess HSK 4 to HSK 6 proficiency or hold a Chinese language degree.
✅ You consider yourself an "intermediate" or "advanced" learner.
✅ You’ve been studying Chinese intermittently for years but haven’t seen improvement recently.
✅ You aim to enhance your language skills but struggle with motivation, discipline, or routine.
Members of RTM Pro are dedicated and motivated learners who are truly invested in improving their Mandarin. They are ready to step out of their comfort zones, embrace mistakes, and grow in the process.
If you share this mindset, you’ll fit right in!
As an intermediate Chinese learner, Chinese Pro motivates me to consistently read engaging articles.
Hopefully see you on Saturday!
Andrew

Prep questions:
分享一个这期中你觉得最难理解/喜欢/有用的词,或者分享一个你学到的句型。
当你生病时,自己去药店买OTC还是更倾向于听医生的建议做出选择?在你看来,医院按照政府规定采购药品是否合理?
一些人认为仿制药降低了患者的医疗成本,你是否认为仿制药能够为低收入患者提供更多选择?降低成本是用仿制药的好处之一,用仿制药是否有坏处?
Please count me in should you ever run an open house session at a different time (to suit AEST) 😊
