Hi! I'd love a Discord channel. It would be great to be able to keep in touch with other learners and support each other on a daily basis. Also, chatting is a great way to practice Chinese! I suppose voice discussions could be embedded into the server - not even in any structured form, could be impromptu ones, like, "anyone online and want to practice speaking? Level HSK 3" or something like that. Of course all depends on engagement but I think it might turn out very cool and helpful.

*General Comment/Question *

I’m considering trying to obtain membership with the American Translators Association with the long term goal to test for the Chinese-English certification. However, before that, I think I’d need to go through a formal course on Chinese - English translation. Do you (Zoe, Andrew, et al.) have any suggestions on translations courses that are out there—especially online? Unfortunately my internet searching has not produced any fruit. 好事成兔!

For ATA membership, you just need to pay the fee to get it. But if your goal is to become a translator, you should definitely obtain the certification (Chinese into English - for written translation, it’s almost always into your mother tongue). My alma mater MIIS now offers an online program (degree or non-degree) for translation and localisation management TLM. You can check out the details here: https://www.middlebury.edu/institute/academics/degree-programs/online-translation-localization-management

Yes please! We used discord on a course I ran last year. It was quite good but hard to get consistent engagement. So i will also need some help on how to organise it - ie community building / engagement etc. email me and let’s find time to discuss?
